‘Stuck In The Avant Garde’ presents footage from an art opening attended by the artist Maurice Doherty at Schalter Project Space, Berlin, in 2009. During the vernissage, Doherty became locked in the gallery toilet for over three hours. The video depicts the gallerist and three other exhibition attendees attempting to open the lavatory door to release the artist. Filmed by a visitor to the exhibition, the footage was later acquired by the artist a few years after the incident. the artist.
